Message from New President It is with the greatest of pleasure that I've dived back in to engage once again with the Australian distance education community. I must admit to having drifted for a while (having started my involvement decades ago with ASPESA), due to the usual work pressures that we all suffer and various moves in my working life. Now, as President of ODLAA, I have the opportunity to make up for my recent lack of contribution by working with the Executive Committee to help implement the ideas and innovations already underway, and assist in developing new directions and plans. There's plenty for all of us to do, and we have a great team ready to serve your membership needs and advance the field of distance education in the region and beyond. I'd also like to take the opportunity to acknowledge the work of previous Executive Committee members, some of whom will not be continuing in 2008. This goes especially for the previous (Interim!) President, Fred Lockwood, who, although not holding the post for long, provided an invigorating force and also inspired me to apply for the President's position. So, stand by for an exciting and fun year. We'll do our best to keep in touch with you and keep you up-to-date with news and events, and please also contact us with any news you'd like to pass on, or any suggestions you have for improvement of our Association. Best wishes, David Murphy
